Thaltej Tekra in West Ahmedabad, on Doordarshan Char Road and opposite Sal Hospital, in the temple run by Baba Ramdev Sansthan Trust, there was a small temple by the devotees of Ramdev Baba about 500 years ago. There was a lake here before. On a hill in the Bavlia bush on the bank, the cowherds used to come to graze cows, goats, etc. and when Ramdev Pir was alive, he stopped here to rest on the bank of the lake during his pilgrimage. According to the folklore, it was learned from the elders of Thaltej village. After that, a saint built a Ramdev Pir’s deri here at the resting place of Ramdev Pir and started living there. Many poor cattle farmers who also served cows used to keep their cows at this deri. They would come in the morning and take the cows to graze. Gradually, since the beginning of the Gau Seva Yagya, this saint used to serve sick cows or cows that did not give milk. Therefore, the devotees donated money to build temples of Ramdev Pir and Lord Shri Ram and Hanumanji in the Seva Yajna and also built a temple on the bank of the lake and a well near the hill. Pilgrims and people used to drink water and rest by the bank of that well. But earlier this place was only a grazing place until about 30 years ago. Then after the development of the city, a big temple was built in Deri by Shri Baba Ramdev Devasthan Trust and now, in accordance with the Gau Seva Param Dharma, there is a cow school along with Baba Ramdev Pir, Jagat Janani Maa Ambaji, as well as Panchmukhi Hanumanji as well as Shanidev and Batuk Bhairav temples at this place.

The current Saint Shiromani Mahant Shri Mohandasji Maharaj instills the pure Sanatan Hindu religion of faith and belief in God in the hearts of the devotees through the story of Ram Katha and other Kathamrut. His strong service attitude is like an inspiration to the people of this area. When a terrible earthquake struck the state of Gujarat on 26 January 2001, without delaying even a moment, he immediately along with his temple servants provided tea, water, snacks and other invaluable services to the residents of all the societies around him, as well as food, snacks and tea for every resident at both times in the temple kitchen. Apart from any other assistance and grants, Mahant Shri Mohandasji Maharaj himself provided this invaluable service through the temple trust. That too for 25 consecutive days, fear and panic spread among the people living in the flats due to the tremors of the earthquake. Therefore, temporary tents and beds were also arranged in the garden of Goyal Intercity as per the instructions of Mahant Shri with the help of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu workers. Also, from then till today, along with the service activities of the temple, the title of Vaishnav Samrat Mahant Shri Mohandasji Maharaj Maha Mandaleshwar was also received by the Sadhu Samaj. At present, Saint Shiromani Vaishnav Samrat Mahant Shri Mohandasji Maharaj is the President of the All India Sant Samaj of Gujarat Province. In the recently completed Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025, he also had an akhada in which the Peshwa of Mahant Shri Mohandasji Maharaj was regularly coming out to accommodate many Sadhu Saints and the beautiful arrangement of food and prasad was also praised by all the Sadhu Saints.
